John was born on August 11, 1955 in Plainfield, New Jersey. He moved to Braddock, Pennsylvania shortly thereafter and then moved to Euclid, Ohio when he was 12 years old. John graduated from Euclid High School, class of 1973, where he held a pole vault relay record. He also attended Cleveland State University and Temple University.
An incredibly social man, he easily made many friends and made all around him feel welcome. He met the love of his life, Char, and the two were happily married on August 18, 1979; together they brought four wonderful children into the world. On top of being a great dad, John was also a successful businessman. He was the President of Eagle Landscaping for over 40 years; his work won numerous awards at the National Home and Garden Show and Cleveland Home and Flower Show and was also featured in American Nurseryman Magazine. In addition, for many years John was awarded the Angie’s List Super Service Award for excellent customer service.
John was devoted to his Catholic Faith; he was a parishioner at St. Helen’s, where he resurrected their football team and coached both girls’ and boys’ basketball teams. John had a multitude of hobbies, including golfing, hunting, being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He was immensely proud of his Irish heritage, and his favorite day of the year was St. Patrick’s Day. And even though 100% Irish, John was never one to turn down good food, fun events and fellowship with friends. And so, he was card carrying member of the Slovenian Men’s Club, he also belonged to Lost Nation Golf Club and Pine Valley Deer Camp. John was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland sports teams, and the Philadelphia Eagles. John liked all music and had an eclectic musical taste. He was a fun-loving storyteller who had a great sense of humor, and was always the life of the party whenever he entered the room.
John went to heaven on December 17, 2025, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind a legacy as a vivacious man who loved his family more than anything.
