Joseph N. Banister

JOSEPH N. BANISTER, born on February 25, 1928, in Pittsburgh, PA, and passed away on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2024 at the age of 96. Joe was the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Tirabassi), loving father of Ellen, Nancy, Mary Jo, Susan, Patricia, Jay and Karen, step-father to Michael, Elizabeth and Marc, cherished grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 7, devoted son of the late Joseph and Mary (nee Hickey), treasured brother of the late Agnes Peterman.

Joe was a physical education teacher in the Bedford School System for 30 years, was inducted into the Willoughby High School Athletic Hall of Fame and was the long-term director at Weehawkin Day Camp.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joe suggested to One of A Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313.

Relatives and friends are requested to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Friday, March 22, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd., Gates Mills, at 11:30 AM. Friends will be received following the Mass. Private burial will be held at a later date in Lake View Cemetery.
