JOSEPH JOHN BOGER, aged 101 years, beloved husband for 75 years to Margaret (nee Elias), dear father of Ronald (Jolene), Albert (Herme), Sharon Seabeck (Scott), Diane Balata (Robert) and Margaret Schuster, loving grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 15, devoted son of the late Albert and Shafica (nee Sadd), cherished brother of the late Violet Wichert and Viola, Alberta, Betty and John Boger, fond uncle and great-uncle. Mr. Boger was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.

Joseph John Boger was born on May 13, 1922, in Cleveland, Ohio, where he resided for his whole life. He was a member of St. Maron and St. Clare Catholic Churches, and he was a member of the church council and President of the Holy Name Society. Joseph graduated from East High School and was a member of the High Y Club. Joe joined the Army in 1942 and served in World War II. He was a recruiting Sergeant in the Middle East, and served as a Military policeman at the Neal House Conference where he guarded Roosevelt and Churchill. He received the Victory Medal from World War II.

Following his enlistment, Joe was the owner / operator of Boger Insurance Agency for many years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the Meals-on-Wheels program in Lyndhurst. He enjoyed golf, card playing, and loved to fish and hunt in his younger days.

Joe was the Patriarch of the family and was always there when needed. Not just for his family, but for anyone who needed help. Joe was very family oriented, with the most enjoyment in life being his wife, children and grandchildren. He kept the family close, and they were always together for the holidays. Traveling with his wife was always a special event.

Joe passed away on October 19, 2023. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Please meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd., Gates Mills, at 11 AM.
