Josephine M. "Josey" Cerer

JOSEPHINE M. "JOSEY" CERER (nee Volčjak) age 61, beloved wife of Joseph "Joe" Cerer; loving mother of Joseph, Gabriela, and Michael Cerer (Gabrijela Basič); cherished daughter of the late Jože and Ivana (nee Kosmac) Volčjak; dearest sister of Maria Stepec (husband Thomas), and sister in law of Anthony and Bart Cerer, Anne Koekkoek, and the late Mojca Cerer; dear aunt of Joseph, Kathryn, and John Stepec, Anthony Cerer (wife Catherine), Edward Cerer (wife Kimberly), and great aunt of many, and the late Magdalene Cerer.

Josey was born April 27, 1964, in Cleveland, Ohio where she would graduate from Villa Angela High School in 1982. She would go on to receive her bachelor's degree from Notre Dame College in South Euclid in 1986. Josey has called Willoughby Hills, Ohio, her home since 1992, where she worked for many years as a Dietician. She volunteered often at the Slovenian Club, catered weddings, and worked the fish fry within in her church. Josey was a member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Collinwood since 1964, where she was present for every Sunday Mass. She was also a member of Pristava through her husband, Joe. Josey loved to cook and bake, especially for her loved ones, and her favorite occasion was making Christmas Eve dinner. She also liked to garden and enjoyed both country and Slovenian music. Josey is remembered as a kind-hearted, caring, empathetic, and loving soul who was devoted to her family and her faith. Josey passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 11, 2025.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church 15519 Holmes Ave, Cleveland, OH 44110-2443 at 10:30 AM. 

Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. 

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Josey at THE CHURCH, THURSDAY MORNING from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. Arrangements entrusted to Zevnik Cosic Funeral Home.
