JOSEPHINE “PEPPE” LESKO (nee MAKSE) age 97, beloved wife for 40 years of the late Stephen; loving mother of Linnette Davis, Leonard (wife Paula), and Steve; devoted grandmother of Gary Davis (wife Jackie), Melanie Lloyd (husband Nathan), Christina Davis, Christopher Lesko, Matthew Lesko (wife Simone), Michael Lesko (wife Carina), and the late Michele Lesko and great-grandmother of Stephen, Jack, Jordan, Kaelyn, Cruz, Cade, and Bowe; cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (nee Gruden) Makse; dearest sister of Mitzi Mihalic and the late Joseph Makse.

Josephine was born on October 20, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away on September 2, 2021 in Newbury, Ohio. Strong in her faith she was an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church for the 57 years she lived in Newbury and an active member of St. Vitus Catholic Church for the 40 years she lived in Cleveland. Peppe worked as a packer for Great Lake Cheese and continued to work in housekeeping at Holly Hill Nursing Home until she was 90 years old. She always kept busy, whether she was at work, church, or participating in the Slovenian Club, Cleveland East Side Turners, American Red Cross, Red Hat Club, SNJP Lodge #556, AARP, and the 90 and over Birthday Club. She would dance at the SNPJ/Recreation Center and was a huge joy to be around. She was extremely active and was a multi–Gold Medal winner of local and National Senior Olympics. She was also a Volunteer Red Cross Water Safety Instructor where she taught hundreds of children how to swim. Peppe was a kindhearted woman, who enjoyed listening and dancing to polkas, spending time with her pets, traveling, going to the casino, and most importantly attending family get togethers will be deeply missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Rd, Newbury Township, OH 44065, at 11 AM.

Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Peppe at the church from ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­10-11 AM.
