JOYCE E. GRADY (nee Sheese) age 81, beloved wife of the late Larry; loving mother of Julie Novak (husband Jim) and Patricia Grady (husband W.P. Wheeler); devoted grandmother of Matthew Novak and Mack Wheeler; cherished daughter of the late Earl and Mary (nee Doak) Sheese; dearest sister of Nicki Rameriz (husband Pedro), Franny Lancaster and the late Orson Spitznogre; dear aunt and great-aunt of many. Preceded in death by many canine and feline companions. U.S. Army Veteran.
Joyce was born in Muscatine, Iowa on August 4, 1944. Her family proudly watched as she graduated in 1963 from Westmer High School. Following her honorable service in the US Army, Joyce married, moved to Ohio and attended Lakeland Community College. Using her education, she spent many years mentoring teenagers as a high school advisor at Willoughby South High School.
As a strong, charitable and giving person, Joyce served as an advocate for many. She was actively involved with such organizations as the Willoughby Hills Lions Club, the League of Women Voters and the Lake County Democratic Party.
Leisure activities for Joyce were photography, reading, and listening to her favorite songs by Bruce Springsteen. Animals, both canines and felines, brought her great joy. With her zest for life, social personality and sense of curiosity, she spent memorable times traveling through Europe.
There was no question as to how much she loved her family and that she cherished her role as a wife and mother. Her children lovingly cared for her and were at her side when she passed away on October 29, 2025. Having a true impact on so many lives, Joyce will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joyce to Wolf Conservation Center, PO Box 421 South Salem, New York 10590 or https://nywolf.org
