Joyce Hoon

JOYCE A. HOON (nee Hausrath) age 88, beloved wife for 65 years of James; loving mother of Beth Dennis (husband Dale) and Joy Kump (husband Dan); devoted grandmother of Jennifer Dennis (Brian Hylkema), Kristen Heiss (husband Eric), Sarah Dennis (Michael Grande), and Caitlin Alexander (husband Devin), and great-grandmother of Alexis, Grace, Brian, Ethan, Molly, Madelyn, and Nicholas; cherished daughter of the late Edward and Eleanor (nee Holzheimer) Hausrath; dearest sister of Nancy Ryan and the late Joan Reese, Edward Hausrath, and Dennis Hausrath; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Joyce was born September 21, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, where she eventually graduated from Collinwood High School in 1958. Joyce soon after met her husband, James and began her life as a mother and homemaker to her two daughters. She liked to keep busy and use her hands crafting, sewing, baking, gardening, and making ceramics. Joyce was a fan of the oldies, especially Johnny Mathis. She loved to travel, and Myrtle Beach was a favorite spot to visit. Joyce was both kindhearted and strong-willed, proud and protective of those she loved. She was adored for her sociability, friendly spirit, and great sense of humor. Joyce is remembered for being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She passed away on September 23, 2025.

Celebration of Life Service Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following at Knollwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Joyce at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY MORNING 9 - 11 AM.
