JOYCE MARIE KVET age 86, beloved wife of the late Roger of 62 years; loving mother of Kathy Drotos (husband David) and Karen Payne; devoted grandmother of Jesse, Luke, Noah and Eden Drotos and Joseph Kvet-Payne; cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie (nee Pubal) Svec; dearest sister of Joan Bloam (husband Earl); treasured sister-in-law of the late William (wife Rosalind); dear aunt of Eric Bloam (wife Dawn), Todd Bloam, Stacy Kvet (partner Ryan Krapf) and Bryan Kvet and great-aunt of many.
Joyce was born on February 15, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio. She and her identical twin sister Joan were raised in Newburgh Heights and enjoyed doing everything together, including roller skating, twirling batons and being teen models for local businesses including Higbee's Department store.
She graduated from South High in 1957 and, though she mostly lived as a homemaker, she dedicated her time working for the Cleveland Society for the Blind in the 60s, Cambridge Candies in the 80s, and Hawken School in the 90s.
Joyce was a thoughtful and generous woman devoted to her family and friends. She and her husband Roger made Mayfield Heights their home for 60 years and were parishioners of Mayfield Church for more than 55 years. She truly enjoyed hosting holidays and New Year's Eve at their home and loved having her sister and family sleep over into the new year. Family also included her dogs, to which she loved caring for.
For Joyce, time well-spent included camping at Woodside Lake Park with her sister and dear friends, shopping, cooking, entertaining and photographing her loved ones. Above all, she treasured time with her family and being a grandparent. She was also a strong person, caring for her husband Roger for nearly 25 years after a life-threatening infection almost took his life and left him disabled.
She made a point to remember everyone's birthday and special occasions and enjoyed celebrating all of life's achievements with her many friends and family. Joyce passed away on December 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of thoughtfulness and love that will be cherished without end.
