Kathleen Diane Broer

February 14, 1945 — January 12, 2026

KATHLEEN DIANE BROER (nee King) age 80, beloved wife for 40 years of the late Paul; loving mother of John Broer (wife Heather, nee Hissett), and caring step-mother of Janet Keeler (nee Broer, Husband David) David Broer, Jeff Broer (wife Elyse), and Jennifer Drozdowski (nee Broer) ; devoted grandmother of Gavin and Chloe and doting step grandmother of Milo, Nolan, Lennon, Jackson, and Lauren; dear caretaker to her late canine companions Doobie, Lighter, Barron, and Muffon.

Kathy was born on February 14th, 1945, in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she also grew up. She later moved to Portage County, which is where she spent most of her life before retiring to Geauga County to spend the remainder of her life. Kathy met the love of her life, Paul, and the two were happily married in 1982. They blended their family together, and Kathy became a mother to her son John and to her stepchildren Janet, David, Jeff, and Jennifer. Kathy and Paul enjoyed playing cards on Sundays. She loved every single member of her family, which included her English Springer Spaniels. Kathy was passionate about the breed and was the owner of her own kennel in Aurora, Ohio for over 10 years. Her love for animals extended beyond her own dogs, and she was a forefront volunteer at Valley Save a Pet with her husband Paul. Family dinners were always something to look forward to at Kathy's home, especially when she and Gavin made her famous cheesy potatoes. She was an avid shopper at Kohls and Giant Eagle, where she made sure to spend her Kohl's cash and see her favorite staff members. Kathy was also an antique collector who specialized in Jewelry and Pottery, and she could be found with her husband and family at the bi-annual Burton Antiques Show year after year. She was well informed in world news and was strong in her political beliefs. Kathy enjoyed a variety of different TV shows, but her favorite was The Vampire Diaries. She enjoyed watching movies of different genres as well. Her love language was gift giving, and she loved shopping for the perfect present. Kathy passed away on January 12, 2026, and will be fondly remembered as an old-fashioned soul who deeply cared for everyone around her.
