Kathleen B. Murtaugh

August 22, 1949 — August 26, 2025

Kathleen B. Murtaugh of Newbury Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on August 26, 2025, at the age of 76.

Kathleen was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Mary (Coyne) and Francis DeSales Murtaugh. She was preceded in death by her brothers William, Francis Jr. of Cleveland, and Lawrence (Genevieve) of Richmond, Virginia. She is survived by her siblings Mary Ann, Christopher
(Joyce), and Michael (Denise). She was the beloved widow of James Biss and the devoted mother of Ben
Misseri (April) and Ryan Hanus (Carrie). Kathleen was the proud and loving grandmother of Sal Misseri (Sydney), Nick Misseri, Angelina Misseri, Brendan Hanus, Tyler Hanus, Isabelle Hanus, and grandson of the heart Chris Lanzilotti (Alyse). She was the cherished great-grandmother of Azelle and Evalina Misseri.

She shared a lifelong friendship with her best friend, Toni Frate Lehmann, and was a dear friend to many more. Kathleen lived life boldly and
unapologetically. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she had a special fondness for big trucks, big dogs, and the beauty of the Cape Hatteras Seashore. As Frank Sinatra famously sang, Kathleen truly did life her way.

She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Kathleen asked that those who loved her remember the good times and hold close the people who matter most. In her words, "If you lived life right, you don't need a funeral to say goodbye." Her immediate family will honor her wishes with a private memorial in Cape Hatteras. In lieu of flowers, Kathleen would ask that donations be made to your local animal shelter or
animal rescue organization.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, James.

Arrangements and cremation entrusted to DeJohn Funeral Homes and Crematory.
