KATHRYN ANN CHUBB (nee Gabrenya) passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024. She was born on August 1, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to Edward C. Gabrenya, Jr. and Patricia A. (nee Durbin), both deceased. She is survived by her siblings Edward Gabrenya III, Jean Gabrenya (Lisa Falcone), Paul Gabrenya, Mary Meyers (Duane, deceased) and Nancy Gabrenya (Rick Bumgardner); nieces and nephews Jon Paul Gabrenya, Kristyn Meyers Connell (Adam), Malori Nortz (Andrew), and Kourtney Meyers; great nieces and nephews Jaxon and Riley Gabrenya, Julian and Jack Nortz; and her dear friend and companion, F. Kathy began her workers' compensation career as a legal assistant with a Cleveland law firm before she obtained her law degree in 1990. From 1990 to 1992 Kathy was associated with a Cleveland firm representing employers in various business matters, particularly workers' compensation. From 1992 to 1995 she was an attorney with the Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
1995, Kathy established her own private practice, limiting her representation to employers at Industrial Commission administrative hearings and all levels of court. In 1998, Kathy became Of Counsel to Garvin & Hickey, LLC.
Kathy had a passion for helping those less fortunate, not just in her words, but in her actions. Not only was she passionate about making sure children in Geauga County had a magical Christmas, but she donated things for seniors as well.
Sponsor a Family is a toy, gift, and food distribution program coordinated by Geauga County Job and Family Services providing help to low-income families, agency foster children, and seniors during the holiday season. The program has been coordinated by Geauga County Job and Family services for over 50 years and Kathy was an incredibly generous supporter of the program for well over a decade.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sponsor a Family can be made to Special Services of Geauga County and mailed to Geauga County Job and Family Services, P.O. Box 309, Chardon, OH 44024. Please indicate in memory of Kathy Chubb.
