KRISTINA VUGRINEC (nee Horvat) age 84, beloved wife of the late Matt; loving mother of Irene McGarvey (husband Timothy); devoted grandmother of Ethan McGarvey; cherished daughter of the late Veronika (nee Hozjan) Horvat and Josef Horvat; dear cousin of many.
Kristina was born on July 14, 1939, in Mala Polana Slovenia. After immigrating to the United States with her mother at a young age, she made the Cleveland area and eventually Willoughby Hills home. She was extremely hardworking and was a seamstress by trade. Kristina also kept busy tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, as well as her yard, to which were always flourishing and well kept. She truly loved the beauty of nature. Born in Slovenia, she was very proud of her heritage and enjoyed singing and dancing to music, especially polkas, and spending time with friends at Slovenska Pristava. Above all things, she loved being a mother and grandmother. On March 13, 2024, Kristina passed away with her family by her side. Kristina cared for others with everything she had. She ensured the needs of others were always met and it is for these things she will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Kristina to St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 140 Richmond Road, Euclid, OH 44143, at 10:30 AM.
Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Kristina at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) MONDAY from 4- 8 PM.
