Born May 18, 1975, Laura passed away at home surrounded by her husband and children on October 12, 2023. A lifelong resident of Lake County who resided in Willoughby Hills since 2006, she devoted herself throughout her life to improving her community through social engagement and civic action. She graduated from Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School (1993) and Cleveland State University, and went on to earn a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, and an L.L.M. from New York University School of Law, receiving many distinctions and honors along the way. Laura excelled as an attorney, but she was most proud of the ten years she spent in the career of Stay-At-Home-Mom to her children, who are her greatest achievement and passion. During that time she volunteered with the Edison Elementary PTO and became a sports fan who loved watching her children at soccer, baseball, and softball games and cross-country meets. She developed her love of hiking our beautiful Ohio parks and writing for pleasure. A lifelong runner, Laura was active in the Northeast Ohio running community and combined her writing skill with her experience as a marathon runner to create an international online community that encouraged and enabled women of all abilities to reach their running dreams and goals. In 2017 she was called to her vocation of politics and was appointed to the Willoughby Hills City Council. She later became the law director for several local communities, and in 2021 she was appointed Assistant Prosecutor in Ashtabula County. Laura had strong convictions, was strong-willed and fought for a just world out of a great love for the many people she touched throughout her life. That love was galvanized by her devotion to her children and commitment to leaving this world better for them. In that mission, she also made the world better for so many who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Laura to the Lake County Humane Society,Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Rd, Willoughby, Ohio at 10:30 AM.
