Laurie Nelson

Laurie Nelson passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, on October 25, 2021 at her home in Mayfield Heights. She was born in Princeton, New Jersey on July 18, 1959.  Laurie was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Harriet Nelson.  She is survived by her sister Lisa Miller (Paul) and she was the much loved Aunt La to her niece Kelly Vega (Brian) and nephew Zach Miller.

She grew up in Kendall Park, New Jersey, graduated from Juniata College, and spent her career in banking and retail management.  She found a home with Barnes and Noble and worked there for the last 17 years at the Duquesne University and Cuyahoga County Community College bookstores. Laurie spent much of her free time with her friends and beloved cats, Oscar and Cassie. Laurie loved to travel, especially to the ocean. She loved reading and spending holidays with her family. Though she only lived in Pittsburgh for a few years, Laurie became an avid Steelers fan.

Arrangements are entrusted to DeJohn’s Funeral Home. There will be a private family service and celebration of Laurie’s life.
