LINDA MAUREEN WOOD age 73, cherished daughter of Herbert John and Edith Viola (nee Rogers) Wood; dearest sister of Lori Walsh (Jim) and the late Murl Wood; and dear aunt of Melissa Walsh and Emily Schilling (Brandon).
The Lord blessed parents Herbert and Edith with the birth of their daughter, Linda, on June 7, 1952, in Cleveland Ohio. From an early age, Linda was an unwaveringly faithful woman who loved Jesus, and her faith would guide her throughout her long life. She graduated from Shaw High School before graduating with her associates from Kent State University, where she was also a member of Grace Bible Study. Linda dutifully worked at General Electric for many years, where her encouraging nature made her well regarded among her coworkers before retiring. She was undoubtedly part of the glue that held Shoreline Church together, and she showed it by taking on the role as leader of their Bible Study and Book Study respectively. Both flourished under her leadership, and her devotion to the Lord extended into her home, where she hosted a Bible Study there as well. Linda loved to read and would use books to lead her studies with fruitful success.
After Ede's passing in 2004, Linda served lovingly as "in loco grandparentis" (in the place of a grandparent) to Melissa and Emily, faithfully being there for all their special milestones - baseball games, volleyball games, piano recitals, art shows, grandparents' days, dramatic presentations, college visits, graduations, and a very special wedding.
Linda was also a patron of the arts who adored going to plays with her family. Linda had an undeniable impact on the lives of the women around her, whom she took under her wing and personally discipled. She would come to be seen as a woman of wisdom in their lives. Linda made friends everywhere she went and was always at any and all everyday events. She was best described as thoughtful and smart by those who knew her, and her favorite animal was a sheep, the very symbol of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Linda was called home to Heaven on July 28, 2025, where she leaves behind an enduring legacy as a woman who dedicated her life to doing God's will.
