A quick wit with a sharp tongue and a warm chuckle, Lydia Lorraine Slyman, 49, of Brunswick, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025.
Lydia was born on May 17, 1976 to Joyce and Dan Schreiner. Playing outside, riding bikes and roller skating at grandma’s house were childhood joys of the self-proclaimed “Lyd the Kid”, moving 180 degrees to a fascination with True Crime stories as she grew older.
Family, friends and strangers never had to wonder if they were acting idiotically, because Lydia was always willing to tell them. But she also openly shared her deep love to those she held close and who loved her back.
Lydia is survived by her son, Mitchell Slyman (partner Molly); former husband, Peter Slyman; father, Dan Schreiner (wife Donna); sisters Maria Schreiner and Alicea Ptak, (husband Steve); niece Abbey and nephew Beau; aunts Lorraine Blake and Leslie Stephens; and childhood friends Kathy Rath and Jamie McGinty.
Services will be private, but Lydia’s life is celebrated by many. Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID. On-line obituary and guestbook at www.DeJohnCares.com.
