Lyn A. Wolter

age 85, beloved husband of the late Ingrid (nee Peterson); loving father of Brad (wife Ellen), Tracey Wolter and Kierston Huffnagle (husband Kirk); devoted grandfather of Gabrielle and Tyler; cherished son of  the late Lewis and Dorothy (nee Stearns); dearest brother of Bruce (wife Karen, deceased) and brother-in-law of Paul “Jerome” & Janine DuFour, Richard Parrish and the late Michael DuFour (wife Karen) and Noel “Howard” Parrish;  dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Lyn was born on August 30, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa. He lived in Russell, Ohio for the last 40 years. Lyn attended high school in California and received his bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degree in economics from UCLA. He worked as a strategic planner at Gould and First Energy. A memory he loved to share with people was when he was at Rockwell Industries in California and got to work with the space program.

Lyn enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, camping, and horseback riding, and was a member of the Eagles Club. Lyn was very involved in his children’s sporting activities and coached soccer and baseball. He was an avid Browns, Indians, and UCLA Basketball fan. You would often find him listening to music of the 1950’s and 60’s, the Beach Boys, Righteous Brothers and Country. Lyn also loved to watch western shows and movies and study history. Many would say he was very analytical, handy, sociable, and witty with a great sense of humor who loved to tease people. He was devoted to his family and loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Lyn passed away October 13, 2023. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
