Lyn Dee Vernick

November 9, 1945 — March 17, 2026

LYN DEE VERNICK (nee Johnston) age 80, beloved wife of the late Donald for 50 years; loving mother of Glen (Amy) Vernick, Missy (Terry) Rein, Kimberly (Donald) Krance, Brian (Tricia) Vernick, and Julie (Kevin) Hunt; devoted grandmother of Joel (Rachael), Jessie (Matt), Jacob, Terry Lee (Laura), Timothy (Mackayla Boggs), Joshua (Kasey), Zachary, Kristina, Jessica (Chris Byers), Dakota, and Hope and great-grandmother of 8. She was preceded in death by her cherished parents Theodore and Beatrice (nee Adams) Johnston; sister Gay Morell; and grandson Joshua Fanti.

Lyn was born on November 9, 1945, to Theodore and Beatrice, in Reading, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Reading but later moved to Willougby to attend Andrews School for Girls starting in 9th grade. Lyn had a love for horses, dating back to when she visited a neighbor growing up. As such, she was a dedicated member of Andrew's School for Girl's and became involved in the Equestrian Program. She took great care of both her horses, Hazy in Reading, and Cowboy in Willoughby. She went on to graduate from the Andrews School for Girls. Lyn met the love of her life, Donald, and the two were happily married in 1975 and built a home in Hambden for their family. Just as she was deeply devoted to her family, Lyn was also deeply devoted to her Christian faith. She used her artistic talents to help with her church's art activities, and she was an art teacher at Willo-Hill Christian School. Her artistry wasn't limited simply to crafts either, she had the ability to cook delicious meals without having to follow any sort of recipe. Lyn wanted to make sure anything she made was special and always made sure that you felt special. She proudly worked for the Geauga County Department of Aging. When she wasn't graciously giving her time to her family or church, Lyn could be found singing, tending her rock garden, and canning and freezing produce that she helped grow on her family's farm. Lyn returned home to heaven on March 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as a woman who put family and faith above all else.
