Marcelle Nahra

MARCELLE NAHRA (nee Hatoum) age 87, beloved wife for 48 years of the late Norman; loving mother of Arlette Youssef (husband Toufic) and Tom; devoted grandmother of Alexa Warner (husband Justin), and Brenna and Cayla Youssef; cherished daughter of the late Deeb and Hind (nee Karam) Hatoun; dearest sister of Laudy Wehbe, Doris Kawkabani, Nawal and Inaam Hatoum, Bechara Hatoum, M.D., and the late Madeleine Najem; dear aunt, great-aunt, and cousin of many.

Marcelle was born on December 24, 1936, in Beirut, Lebanon. Upon her completion of school in Lebanon, she went on to work for Alitalia Airlines. It was no surprise that she excelled both in her time there and with Halle, as a sales representative, with her outgoing and hospitable nature. Marcelle immigrated to the United States in 1962 and lived in Cleveland Heights until making University Heights home in 1968. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching the Indians, and listening to Lebanon classics. However, above all things her faith and family were the most important things in her life. On January 18, 2024, Marcelle passed away. Her family and friends will forever miss her light sense of humor and endless love. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marcelle’s memory to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Church of the Gesu, or St. Maron Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 10 AM at Church of the Gesu, 2470 Miramar Blvd, University Heights, OH 44118. Burial following at Knollwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Marcelle at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) WEDNESDAY 4-8 PM.
