Margaret Ann "Peggy" Zimmer

MARGARET ANN “PEGGY” ZIMMER (nee Payne) age 88, beloved wife of the late Erwin “Ernie” Jr.; loving mother of Lisa Zimmer, Sally Guzik (husband Robert), and Amy King (husband Jack); devoted grandmother of Sarah Hampson (husband James), Kelsey Guzik, Emily King (Fiancé Paul Bunch, Jr.), Kyle Guzik, Elizabeth Jones (husband Bobby), Jacob Guzik, and Zachary King, and great-grandmother of four; cherished daughter of the late Charles Edward and Frances Elaine (nee Hendrickson) Payne; dearest sister of Dr. Carol Payne Smith, Janet Hastings, and the late Richard C. Payne; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Peggy was born on November 14th, 1935, and grew up in the Sandusky area. She graduated in 1953 from Bowling Green High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in 1957 from Bowling Green State University, where she later earned her master’s degree. Peggy was a BGSU member of the Delta Gamma sorority (Beta Mu chapter). One of the many moments of joy in her life was when she married Ernie in 1958 at Prout Chapel on the BGSU campus. She and Ernie remained married until his death in 1998. Peggy taught 3rd grade in Bowling Green and later served as the Executive Secretary in Mayfield Heights to Mayor Ross C. DeJohn, Sr. She enjoyed attending a good party, traveling, cheering on the Cleveland Browns, singing, and eating a really good hamburger. Peggy was devoted to God, her family, and her friends. Her loving family described her as fun, friendly, caring, and generous. Peggy passed away on March 5, 2024, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Celebration of Life Service Friday, March 15, 2024, at 10 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following at Western Reserve Memorial Garden. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Peggy at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.)
