Margaret "Kathy" Novotney

MARGARET “KATHY” NOVOTNEY (nee Gochneaur) age 49, beloved wife of Bernard Jr.; loving mother of Julia and Joshua; cherished daughter of the late Melvin and Janet (nee Tackett) Gochneaur; dearest sister of Dean Gochneaur (wife Mindy), Chris Gochneaur (partner Jesse Slatton), Melanie Edwards (husband Ray) and Sherry Horan; fond daughter-in-law of Bernard Sr. and Darlene Novotney; dear niece, aunt, great-aunt, co-worker and friend of many.  Survived by her canine companion Luna and her feline companions Squirt, Lily, and Phantom.

Kathy was born on January 19, 1974, and passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2024. She was a 1992 graduate of T.W. Harvey High School in Painesville. She received an associate degree from Kaplan University and worked as a paralegal for a law firm. She most recently worked as an administrative assistant and Pet Specialist at DeJohn Funeral Home and Pet Services. She had a gift for helping grieving families during the most difficult time of their lives and it was evident through the many acknowledgments that she received.

Kathy also spent time as a volunteer at Wickliffe schools with the swing band, football, softball and baseball teams. Kathy absolutely loved to play pool and to bake. She was an avid Browns fan and loved country music. Kathy enjoyed singing, Hallmark movies and the holidays. She had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. Her family describes her as being heartfelt, giving, social, generous, strong-willed, unique, loving and she had a great sense of humor. Kathy will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Ss. Robert & William Catholic Church 367 E. 260th St., Euclid, OH at 10AM. Burial following at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Kathy at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) MONDAY 4-8 PM.
