MARIA “MARY” ZAVODNIK (nee Sojer) age 97, beloved wife of the late Louis; loving mother of Leon (wife Susan) and Louis Jr. (wife Susan); devoted grandmother of Jessica Raymond (husband Mike), Mary Beth Smith (husband Kevin), Christine Harned (husband Kyle), Theresa Carnes (husband Andrew), Matthew (wife Celena), Anthony, Michael and Jarod and great-grandmother of Leon Raymond, Kendall Smith, Colin Raymond and Nico; cherished daughter of the late Janez and Marija Sojer (nee Kozamernik); dearest sister of Slavka of Slovenia; preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters all of Slovenia; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Mary was born November 1, 1924, in Slovenia. She later moved to Germany and settled in Cleveland, Ohio in 1958. Mary was a machinist and a homemaker and loved to spend time cooking and gardening. She also found joy in volunteering at her church. Mary was known as being very loving and caring. She was friendly and had a great sense of humor. Mary will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her strong dedication to her faith.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mary to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

Relatives and friends are requested to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 10 AM Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church 29850 Euclid Ave, Wickliffe, OH 44092 at. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Arrangements by THE ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91).
