MARIE A. PENKO (nee Perusek), age 93, beloved wife of the late Charles J. Sr.; loving mother of twins Catherine Willard (deceased) (husband Tim) and Elizabeth Horsfall, Charles J. Penko, Nancy Knoble (husband Paul) and Mary Penko Bales (husband Robert); devoted grandmother of Christopher "CJ" Horsfall, Thomas Horsfall (fiancée Leanne Rahija), Michelle Penko, Kaitlin Christy (husband Thomas) Arielle Slovenec (husband Alec), Maureen Penko, Kaylee Willard, Jillian Bales, and Jacob Bales; cherished daughter of the late Jerry and Mary (nee Lousin) Perusek; dearest sister of the late Richard Perusek (wife Carol deceased); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Marie was born in Cleveland on December 14, 1932 and graduated from Villa Angela High School in 1950. She went on to earn her Registered Nursing diploma from St. John's College in Cleveland and had a long career as an RN at Euclid General Hospital.

She loved to garden, sew, read, listen to her favorite big band or Slovenian polka music, and spend time with her grandchildren and her dogs. She also liked traveling, dancing, and watching Cleveland baseball. She believed in giving back to her community by volunteering at the American Cancer Society Shop in Chardon.

She will be remembered for her strong devotion to her family and faith and will be missed by all who loved her.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Marie to Suncrest Hospice.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 10 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon. Private burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Marie at THE CHURCH SATURDAY MORNING from 9-10AM.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Arrangements entrusted to THE DEJOHN FUNERAL HOME AND CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND.
