Marilyn "Mimi" Dynys

June 24, 1961 — December 26, 2025

MARILYN “MIMI” DYNYS (nee Farmer) age 64, beloved wife of the late Frederick for 38 years; loving mother of Christopher (Danielle Gordon) Dynys, Anne (Scott) Salzgeber, and Kim (Chad) Slater; devoted grandmother of Shain Gordon, William Salzgeber, Andrew Salzgeber, and Dominic Slater; cherished daughter of the late Harry (Ann) Farmer and Delores Farmer (nee Gintert) and daughter-in-law of the late Joseph and Norma (nee Bialy) Dynys; dearest sister of Robert (Susan) Farmer and the late Raymond (Lisa) Farmer; dear sister-in-law of Edward Dynys, Joseph (Shelley) Dynys, and Steven (Sharon) Dynys; fond aunt and cousin of many, and fur-companion of her dog Ginger.

Marilyn, fondly known as Mimi, was born on June 24, 1961, in Cleveland, Ohio. Raised in Shaker Heights, she graduated from Shaker Heights High School and continued her education at Slippery Rock University. After earning her Bachelor of Education, she began teaching for Shaker Heights Schools and coaching. She was especially proud to have coached field hockey and helped take their team to states. She cherished being a mother and raising her family in Chagrin Falls. Like her students, she taught her children the values of life and was right there on the sidelines for all their sports. Like the title of “mom”, “grandma” was even better. Mimi loved being a grandma and having more family to care for. She was extremely family-oriented, so it was never a question if you needed something; she was right there to help. Though her days were spent focusing on others, she made time to work a part-time job at Peabody’s Toys and as a substitute teacher, watch the Cleveland Indians and Browns, read mystery novels, and prepare her famous fruit salad for all to enjoy. On December 26, 2025, this most caring and strong-willed individual earned her rest. Though she will be dearly missed, her memory will continue to bring a smile to her family and friends who loved her most.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mimi to Rescue Village, 15463 Chillicothe Rd, Novelty, OH 44072, or the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland, 5414 E. Schaaf Road, Independence, OH 44131.
