Mary Ann Motter

June 9, 1937 — June 2, 2025

MARY ANN MOTTER (nee Bohlke) age 87, beloved wife for 61 years of the late Bruce L. Motter, DDS; loving mother of Sally Rauch (husband Michael), Denise McDonald (husband Thomas), Bruce, Christa Holzer (husband Paul), and Erin; devoted grandmother of Jeff, Michael, Christian, Gabriel, Hannah, Heidi, Bastian, Andrew, Brooklyn, and Caleb and great-grandmother of Laine; cherished daughter of the late Otto and Anna M. (nee Benning) Bohlke; dearest sister of the late Timothy Bohlke (wife Jean); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Mary Ann was born on June 9, 1937, to Otto and Anna, in Cleveland Ohio. She graduated from Cleveland Heights High and lived in Gates Mills for 56 years before moving to Avon Lake for the last 5 years of her life. She met the love of her life, Bruce, while roller-skating and the two soon found themselves happily married. They then settled down and started a family together, bringing 5 wonderful children into the world. Mary Ann was devoted to her children but was equally devoted to her faith. A spiritual woman at heart, she was a dedicated parishioner at Calvary Assembly of God and was active over the years in the church's women's ministries and home bible studies. Mary Ann also passed down her love of God to the next generation by teaching Sunday School.

She worked for years in her husband's dental practice, as well as at Lincoln Electric as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed swimming and being outdoors. What brought her the most enjoyment in life though, was her home decorating projects. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, which she would spend with both her immediate and extended family. She was a woman who was loved by her family, her congregation, and her many friends. Mary Ann returned home to heaven on June 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as a woman who put family and faith above all else. Contributions suggested in Mary Ann's memory to Alzheimer's Association, 23215 Commerce Park, #300, Beachwood, OH 44122 or online at alz.org/cleveland/donate .
