Mary Miklavcic (nee Stirn) age 96, beloved wife of the late Joseph, loving mother of Mary Zupancic (John), Joseph (Becky), Stan, Peter (Angie); devoted grandmother of Marie Pirs (Matthew), Barb McCann (Chad), Dave Zupancic (Carrie), Robert Zupancic (Stacy), Carey Miklavcic, Jason Miklavcic, Michael Miklavcic (Angela), Kevin Miklavcic, Kelly Shepard (Jeremy), Chris Miklavcic (Amanda); dearest great grandmother of Nicholas Pirs, Colin, Julia, and Alyssa McCann, Brittany, Brianna, Jason and Jocelyn Zupancic, Taylor and Halle Zupancic, Skylar, Kamren, and Griffen Miklavcic, Talon and Sebastian Shepard; great-great grandmother of Iverson and Landon. Beloved sister of Ana, and Marko and remaining relatives in Argentina, Italy and Slovenia; and the following deceased: Silvo, France, Matevz, Rezka, and Janez; and cherished daughter of the late Silvester and Franciska Stirn.
Mary was born on October 22, 1928, in Slovenia and passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2025. Mary and her husband Joseph immigrated to the United States in 1950, initially settling in Minnesota before relocating to Cleveland (Collinwood area) and finally to Euclid, OH where they raised their 4 children and she remained until her death.
Mary was dedicated to her family and to her Catholic faith. After her husband's passing, she obtained her driver's license so she would not need to rely on her children as much. She traveled to many places in the world, including The Holy Land, Argentina to visit family, Fatima, Medjugorje and Lourdes. She also went to church daily until her health declined, helped for many years at the former St. Christine's Parish, and was involved with Catholic Mission Aid and St. Mary's Altar Society. She had a love for gardening, cooking large family dinners (including our favorite fried chicken), baking (especially strudel), and spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren over the years.
Contributions in memory of Mary may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Holmes Ave 15519, Cleveland, OH 44110.
