Mayor David H. Roche

MAYOR DAVID H. ROCHE (former Mayor, President of Council and Councilman of Richmond Hts.), age 77. Resident of Richmond Hts. since 1978. Beloved husband for 50 years of Aire (nee Cavacos); cherished son of the late Harry and Evelyn (nee Hartley) Roche; son-in-law of the late Michael and Caroline (nee Makris) Cavacos. Dearest brother of Susan Crowell (husband Keith Crowell), Edward (Pahm Allard), Carl and Thomas (wife Tracy Murphy Roche); dear brother-in-law of Pete Cavacos (late wife Connie Fonce Cavacos), Dean Cavacos (wife Jannette Barger Cavacos). Cherished godfather to nephew Tyler Roche and niece Julianne Cavacos. Uncle to Kevin Crowell, Jacob Roche, Daniel Roche, Delaney Roche Coenen, Annie Roche Mewborn, Isabel Roche Santry, Brian Cavacos, Michael Cavacos, and Cara Cavacos Temple. Great-uncle of 22 and great-great-uncle of 4.

David was born on June 8, 1948, in Rochester, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dover High School in 1966, New Hampshire Technical Institute 1968 with Assoc EE. and went on to the University of New Hampshire where he graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor degree in electrical engineering. He joined the General Electric Manufacturing Management Program MMP 1973 and had 21 years as Product Development engineer and systems management with GE Lighting. He was then CEO of Marathon Business Associates, Inc. since 1987.

He was unwavering in his service to the City of Richmond Heights, acting as mayor from 2014-2021 and was past President of Richmond Hts. Kiwanis Club, President of BetterInvesting Northeast Ohio Chapter.

Member of Friends of Euclid Creek, CERT, former Trustee of Friends of Mayfield Richmond Hts. Library, Greenwood Farm HCA, Inc.

His hobbies included investing, gardening and cheering on the Browns, Guardians and Cavs. He will be remembered as a gentle giant, social and friendly, with a great sense of humor and dedication to his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of David to Richmond Heights Kiwanis Club, 25032 Heather Lane, Richmond Hts., OH 44143. Celebration of Life Service Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial following at Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of David at DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Saturday, December 13 from 9-11AM.
