Mirko Klamic

MIRKO KLAMIC age 93, beloved husband of the late Josephine (nee Papez); loving father of Stephan (wife Regina) and Joseph (wife Carla); devoted grandfather of Anthony (wife Kate) and Erin Hafner (husband Paul); cherished son of the late Anton and Ema (nee Strasser); dearest brother of Vera, Albina, Mirka and the late Dana and Dora; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Mirko was born on May 30, 1928 in Ozeljan, Slovenia and passed away on August 7, 2021. While growing up in Slovenia he encountered many struggles, specifically when he was beginning his journey to the United States, he was captured three times by the Nazi’s and placed into Refugee Camps. Upon fleeing Slovenia in 1956, he made his way to the United States and began his journey in America with only $1.50 in his pocket. Mirko first began that journey in Wisconsin. There he worked on a Dairy Farm. Eventually, he settled and began his life and family in Wickliffe, Ohio. Strong in his faith, he was a proud member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. He was also very proud to be Slovenian and enjoyed being a member of the Primorski Club and member of the K.S.K.J. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing chess, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Mirko was a very reserved, mild-mannered husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will now be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mirko to LifeCare Hospice of Wooster.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church (Wickliffe) at 10 AM.

Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Mirko at THE ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY 4-8 PM.
