Nancy R. Kunes

NANCY R. KUNES (nee McGrath), of Highland Heights, OH., died peacefully at home on Dec. 5^th, 2023, aged 86 years. Born to Thomas and Dorothy McGrath in Buffalo, NY, on Sept. 22, 1937. Loving wife of the late Daniel J., dear mother to Jeffery D. (Wendy) and David S., and she cherished her role as grandmother to Charlotte L. Kunes, devoted sister to Donald T. McGrath (Ginny) (both deceased), beloved aunt to many.

Nancy met Dan at Cleveland Heights High School on a blind date, and they were later married for 53 years until he passed away in 2013.  She attended Kent State University and held many roles as the family matriarch and was an expert homemaker.  She had impeccable taste in not only her home decorating style but also in her clothing and a great sense of fashion.

Nancy cherished the time she spent with Dan, her family, and friends at their condo in Marco Island, FL. to escape the winters in Cleveland.  She enjoyed golfing as a member of the Acacia Country Club and the time spent traveling with friends on golf trips, Canada visits, and trips to Columbus.  Later in life, she joined David at the racetrack as a spectator and enjoyed seeing Charlotte compete at horse shows.  She looked forward to dining out for good food and a cocktail and loved finishing with a sweet dessert.  Those close to her knew she had a soft spot for Cheryl’s cookies, Patterson’s apple fritters, a Starbucks Chai latte, and an occasional Goldies donut.  The precious time spent with her family and good friends gave Nancy so much joy.  She will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

Nancy’s Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, at the funeral home at 3:30 PM. The family will greet guests at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON RD. (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY 2 PM UNTIL TIME OF SERVICE.
