Paul F. Witt, 79, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born on November 1, 1946, Paul was the son of Paul A. Witt and Marjorie Witt (neé Driver). Growing up in Fulton, Illinois, his childhood was shaped by time spent on the Mississippi River with family and friends. After graduating from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Chemistry Degree, Paul was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War, specializing in radar technology in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, he entered medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, becoming a respected Orthopedic surgeon and co-founder of Castle Orthopedics.
Paul was a devoted husband to Ann, cherished father to Jessica (Scott) and Jonathan (Erin), loving brother to Sally, and proud grandfather to Luke (12), Evelyn (12), Grace (10), Matthew (9), and Connor (7). He treasured time with his family and friends above all else, reliving memories from his college days with his Acacia fraternity brothers and creating new ones from his world travels. He found great joy in helping others through mentoring and medical care, had a lifelong passion for trains, and held a deep love for the American flag a point of family pride, as he was a relative of William Driver, the 19th-century sea captain who famously nicknamed it "Old Glory."
