Pete Luci, Sr.

PETE LUCI, SR., aged 90 years, beloved husband of Sally (formerly Hudik) and the late Oma (nee Friend), dear father of Pete Jr. (Julie), Lew (Julie) and a daughter and her husband, cherished step-father of Kathy Gall (Peter), Matthew Hudik (Wendy), Beth Toth (Mike) and Joe Hudik, Jr. (Gina), loving grandfather and great-grandfather.

Pete is survived by his 96 year old sister Olga D’Amico and predeceased by brothers Sam, Jack, Iglo, Dominic and Orlando, fond uncle and great-uncle.

Pete’s spirit passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on December 12, 2021.

Pete, of Lyndhurst, was born in West Virginia on April 30, 1931 to the late Luigi and Concetta Luci.  He married his childhood sweetheart, the love of his life, Oma [Friend] Luci who preceded him in death at the age of 54.  Together, they began their family, having three children.  The Luci children blessed Pete with four grandchildren: Peter, Christine, Nick and Alison and further with great-grandchildren.

Pete was blessed to have found love again with his wife and beloved of 31 years, Sally [Hudik] Luci, including her four children and their spouses, who welcomed him into their family with loving, open arms.  He was blessed with an additional 6 grandchildren: John, Will, Sam, Ali, Brady and Skylar.

Papa adored and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and bragged to everyone how he was blessed to have them in his life. He was proud to watch them grow and in his home, he was surrounded by family photos of each of them – whether they lived near or far.  He took every given opportunity to share with them stories of his youth, bringing his early days to life.   His grandchildren always looked forward to the jokes and the silly things Papa would do for a laugh. They filled his heart with joy, which he often celebrated by slipping them some ‘loving’ cash under the table.

Pete’s automotive career was fulfilling and he continued to treasure his friendships with his ‘buddies’ long after retiring, enjoying traveling near or far to stay connected.  He loved talking about his days at General Motors (Fisher Body) and loved driving around town in his variety of GM cars matching his mood and weather-of-the-day.

Each summer morning, Pete loved to sit on the deck that he built, watching the birds and squirrels.  He tended to his garden, so proud of his ability to grow an abundance of vegetables, especially the tomatoes (homegrown from seed).  Pete was not afraid to take on any challenging tasks, keeping himself busy with home repairs and maintenance projects.  He was a handy craftsman, builder, mechanic, gardener and landscaper – always showing his generosity by lending his talents and time to neighbors and family.

Pete will be sorely missed by his family and friends.  His sense of humor always brought smiles and will be missed at every family gathering.  He was a kind-hearted, loyal, and upstanding man, husband, dad, stepdad, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

All services will be private.  A celebration of life service will take place at a later date in 2022.  Family will be notified of the burial that will take place at East Oak Cemetery, Morgantown, WV.    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made here in Pete’s name to The Alzheimer’s Association.
