RAY V. MELKERSON age 89,  beloved husband of the late Metta “Lisa” (nee Kerry); loving father of Eric R. (wife Laura P.); devoted grandfather of Ashley Schoen (husband Adam), Ryan (wife Candice), Kevin, Brendon USMC, Preston  USAF, and Kyle Melkerson (deceased), Micaela and Timothy Lanning, III and great-grandfather of Beckham and Addison; cherished son of the late Harry (wife Edith, deceased) and Elsa (nee Swanson); dearest brother of Richard (wife Colleen, deceased);. U.S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran.

Ray was born on February 14, 1932 in Cleveland and passed away on August 4, 2021. He was a resident of Lyndhurst since 1963 previously residing in East Cleveland. Ray graduated from Brush High School in 1950 and attended Upsala College. He worked as a service technician for Addressograph Multigraph. Ray was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church now Peace Lutheran Church and was on the church council for many years. He loved fishing, woodworking, gardening, and traveling. Ray was an Indians and Browns fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Ray will be remembered most as a compassionate, easy going, generous and social man who was devoted to his family and faith. He will be greatly missed.

Celebration of Life Service Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11 AM at Peace Lutheran Church. Burial following with Military Honors at Crown Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ray at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) THURSDAY 4-7 PM.
