RAYMOND C. SADD, age 75, beloved husband of Donna (neé McGraw) for 53 years; loving father of Ryan (Carley), Erin Lewis (Ian), and Allison Jehling (Christian); devoted grandfather of Logan, Blake, Kate, Luke, Drew, Cole, Adelyn, Riley, Connor, Wesley, and Felicity; cherished son of the late John and Rose (neé Shaheen); son-in-law of the late Chauncey and Mimi (neé Murphy) McGraw; dearest brother of Patricia McCaffrey (Kevin), Rick, Cindy Uveges (Ken), and the late David (Carole), John (Betty Lou), and Penny Crimaldi; brother-in-law of Patrick McGraw (Mary Jo), Shawn McGraw (Tina), and Gary Crimaldi (Cindy); dear uncle and godfather of many.
Raymond was born on October 9, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in Wickliffe where he loved all sports, excelling at baseball in his younger years and then later at football for Benedictine High School where he played under the infamous Augie Bossu. He continued his education at Cleveland State University.
They say, "life is what you make it" and for Ray, that was absolutely true. Finding his career path and the love of his life set the foundation for a remarkable journey.
On June 9, 1973, Ray and Donna were married at St. Maron Maronite Catholic Church. They raised their family in Solon and Ray was able to share many of his Lebanese traditions. Ray loved coaching his children's athletics and supporting their activities.
He put as much effort into his career as he did his family. For decades Ray dedicated himself to building his own malpractice insurance agency, before convincing his son to join the business over 20 years ago.
Ray was known for his charisma. He was a relationship guy who was quick to make friends wherever he went. He loved telling a good story, never letting the details get in the way. His quick wit and calm demeanor always left people with a smile. To know him was to love him.
Being committed to his family, Ray pushed through every hardship to ensure he was the best husband, father, and grandpa. There was always time for work, family, and friends. He enjoyed spending time at home in Auburn, was an avid golfer and even dabbled in stand-up comedy. He attended Mass regularly at Church of the Holy Angels and embraced the simplicities of life.
Though his passing on April 29, 2026, after a 6-year battle with cancer brings sadness, memories of him will live on through smiles and laughter for all of those who knew him and held him dear to their heart.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ray's name to the American Lung Association.
Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Church of the Holy Angels, 18205 Chillicothe Rd, Chagrin Falls, at 11 AM.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ray at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 3-7 PM.
