Rev. Roger N. Vernick

Reverend Roger N. Vernick, 78, a baptized, beloved child of our Heavenly Father, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 11th, in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was the loving husband, of 55 years, of Linda (nee Bauer), devoted father of Marc Richard, Kristyn Barbara Prochaska (late John), and Elizabeth Corinne Baroody (Ted); adored grandfather “Pops” of Samuel (Aubrey Brafford, fiancée), Jonathan “Jack”, Matthew, and James Prochaska; brother of Sandra Seaman (Larry), and survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Roger owned his own general contracting company for many years and at the age of 53 was led to become a pastor in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  He entered Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN, served his vicarage in Conover, NC and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2001.  He was called to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Parkersburg, WV, where he served as the pastor for 16 years, retiring in 2017.As a pastor, Roger loved to teach and preach the Word of God and care for his congregation. Roger deeply loved his wife Linda and family and was a guide and rock to his children.  As a grandpa, he was a source of endless jokes and giggles. There wasn’t a family party or gathering that would go by without roars of laughter when Roger was in the room.  While his family and friends grieve his loss, we are comforted by Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints”.
