ROBERT D. “BOB” MILLER, age 85, passed away peacefully after a brief stay in hospice care. He is proceeded in death by his beloved wife, June (nee Berglund), his parents, Robert E. and J. Patricia, and his brother, Thomas. He is survived by his three children, Mary Host (husband David), Margaret “Peggy” Marotta (husband Thomas, and Michael, and his three dear grandchildren, Brennen, Katie, and Nina.

Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 18, 1940, at St. Ann’s hospital. He attended St. Margaret Mary Parrish and school where his parents were founding parishioners, graduating from Cathedral Latin in 1958. This is where he developed his deep strength in his faith. Bob enjoyed many adventures with his cousins, and had a tremendous sense of family, often recounting beautiful memories with his many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. Bob also attended John Carroll University before answering the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the Navy, serving upon the USS Edisto, an icebreaker. He was extremely proud of his service and got to see some amazing places including New Zealand, Hawaii and both the North and South Poles, the later destination was where he had his picture taken with a penguin.

He married the love of his life, June, in 1960 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and enjoyed a truly beautiful, caring life with June until her passing in 2021. They welcomed three children into the family, but the highlight was when they became grandparents. Bob thrived as both a “Papa” and a “Grandpa” and his close relationships with his grandchildren brought him much joy!

Bob was a retired optician, and enjoyed helping people see better, especially the little kids. He said the look on their faces once they were able to see was priceless!

Bob and June also enjoyed filling their home with pets, from dogs, fish, birds, lizards, and rabbits to rats, mice, and chinchillas. Each one was a cherished “furry” family member.

Bob enjoyed old cars and owned several throughout his lifetime. He liked going to swap meets, setting up his Lionel train sets, and building models. He had quite a beautiful train “town” for several years. He also enjoyed trying out new dishes and experimenting in the kitchen. He was a handy craftsman and could fix anything around the house.

Bob will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was always ready to help a neighbor or stranger and will be forever known as “Good Boy Bobby!”
