Sherry was born on December 1, 1929 in Ashtabula. Her family moved and settled in Euclid where she lived in her childhood home surviving her parents and sister until moving to Willoughby in 2019 where she enjoyed independent living at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village. She graduated from Beaumont High School in 1947 and went on to double major in English and French from Ursuline College. She won a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship and was sent to Brittany, France near Paris to teach. She worked at Collinwood High School in Cleveland where she was a member of the Cleveland Teachers Union and became the Chairman of the Language Department.

She belonged to numerous organizations including Maison Francaise and was an honorary member of Kappa Gamma Pi. She believed in the power of learning and started and taught a language program at Ss. Robert & Williams Catholic Church. Her favorite music was anything Irish or French but she also liked some classical music and Top 40. She was a very traditional and proud Irish woman who cherished all family events from birthdays and holidays, especially St. Patrick’s Day. Her family will remember Sherry as a vibrant, intelligent woman who was social, funny and friendly and dedicated to her family above all else. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
