Dr. STEVEN TSENGAS, age 88, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away on November 26, 2025. Born on May 26, 1937, in Athens, Greece, Steven immigrated to Buffalo, NY when he was 9 years old. He lived a life defined by vision, perseverance, and devotion to family and community.
Beloved husband for 65 years of Evangelina “Linda” (nee Maglara); dear father of Nicholas (wife Maria) and Konstantine “Dean” (wife Constance “Deena”); loving grandfather of Evangelia “Eva” Demetra, Stefanie and Steven; cherished step-grandfather of Panagiota Kachevas (husband Stefanos, daughter Marianna), Konstantina Kachevas (husband Zach) and Andrew Giavroutas; proud son of the late Nicholas and Eugenia; beloved brother of Anna Paravolos (husband Spiro deceased), Leftheris (wife Irene), and the late James (Frances deceased); loving uncle, cousin and friend to many.
The family requests no flowers. Contributions may be made in the memory of Steven to Sts. Constantine & Helen Cathedral’s Philoptochos Society.
Steven earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Buffalo in 1960 and his master’s degree in behavioral sciences from the University of Rochester in 1965. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant in the early 60’s. His corporate career began at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY, as a Special Project Engineer (1962–1965). He then served as Central Operations Manager / HR Director at RF Communications, Inc. in Cincinnati, OH (1966–1968), later becoming General Manager of Tedford Crystal Laboratories, Inc., a division of RF Communications (1968–1970). In 1970, Steven joined Babcock & Wilcox Co. as a Corporate Business Planner in Manhattan, NY, then quickly transferred to Cleveland within 9 months as the Special Assistant to the President of Bailey Meter Company and then was promoted internally to General Manager of Operations (1971–1973). He later served as Executive VP / COO of AMAC Enterprises (1973–1975).
In 1975, Steven embraced entrepreneurship, founding Naxos Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in long-range strategic business planning. He soon thereafter established NAPRO, Inc., a holding company through which he launched multiple small business ventures in electronics, casting vacuum impregnation, specialty powder coating, energy controllers, precision elastomers, and plastics blow molding. Joining him on his entrepreneurial journey were his two sons, Nick and Dean, serving various managerial and executive capacities along the way. His crowning achievement was OurPets Company, a global pet products enterprise that was founded in 1995, became a publicly traded company in 2001 and was sold in 2019. His companies earned recognition from Weatherhead 100 and Lake County Fast Track 50 for their growth and innovation and earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Lake County Development Council in 2019. Steven also held roughly 160 patents in interactive cat and dog toys, pet feeders, pet storage and a feline waste management system to name a few. In his spare time, he earned his Doctorate and became a PhD in Natural Holistic Medicine in 1999.
Steven was deeply committed to his community. He served on his church’s Parish Council, was a member of the Lake Health Foundation Board, and President of the Lake County Development Council. He also taught Business and Entrepreneurship at Cuyahoga Community College (1988-1992). He was a philanthropist (vis-a-vis, the Tsengas Foundation), an avid reader, investor, and loved fishing. He also loved being a snowbird in the winter months with his wife, Linda, in their Sand Key condo in Clearwater, FL for over 35 years. Steven lived life fully and generously.

All funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Sts. Constantine & Helen Cathedral, 3352 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Heights, OH 44118, where the family will receive friends FRIDAY MORNING from 9-11AM. The funeral service begins at 11AM with Father Stephen Callos officiating. Interment immediately following at Lake View Cemetery.
