SUSAN K. BEDNAR (nee Korkmaz), age 90, beloved for 57 years of the late William G., loving mother of David Bednar and Diane Tirabassi (husband John, deceased); devoted grandmother of Matthew (fiancée Allison Crasi), Mark (wife Erika), Natalie and Luke Tirabassi and soon to be great grandmother of a little girl; cherished daughter of the late Kamile and Sadie (nee Nahmie) Korkmaz dearest sister of Tony Korkmaz and the late George Korkmaz, Elias Korkmaz, Laurice Tannoury, and Marie Moubarak; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Susan was born on August 22, 1934, to joyful parents Kamile and Sadie in the village of Beqaatet Kenaan, in the Keserwan District of Lebanon. Her mother passed away when she was very young and she took on the role of caring for her father and youngest brother. Upon coming to the United States, she went on to meet the love of her life, William, and they were married in 1964. The two of them were blessed with two beautiful children whom she was forever devoted to. Susan was a woman of strong Catholic Faith, showed her devotion by frequent prayers, attending Holy Mass and the daily recitation of the Most Holy Rosary. She was also a member of the Holy Rosary St. Anthony Women’s Society. She was consistently devoted to her family and maintained her household with poise and grace, taking her vocation as a wife and mother very seriously. Susan was an awesome cook and made a variety of dishes that never failed to make anyone’s mouth water. A lot of her culinary gifts were self- taught and from many years of experience. She was also incredibly generous and was always willing to provide a hot meal for those who needed it. The virtue of gratitude for God and the blessings in life were apparent by everyone who met and knew her. Susan’s hobbies included knitting, sewing, gardening, and listening to Lebanese music. What brought her the most joy in life though, was spending time with her grandkids. Susan was a woman of strong convictions, and she was also undeniably selfless. She also had a great sense of humor. Susan was called home to eternity on August 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as a woman who loved God and her family with all her heart.
