SUSANNE "SUE" MARIE BEATRICE (nee Mahoney) age 89, beloved wife for 53 years of the late Joseph; loving mother of Suzanne "Suzy" M., Joseph V. Jr. (Donatella), James J., and John P. Beatrice; devoted grandmother of Giavanna and Massimo; cherished daughter of the late James A. and Dorothy I. (nee Tennis) Mahoney; dearest sister of the late James A. Jr. (Ginny), Thomas O., and Paul A. Mahoney; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Sue was born on December 29, 1935, to James and Dorothy, in Philadelphia PA. She graduated from Little Flower High School for Girls before going to work as a ticket agent for TWA. Sue worked as an Administrative Assistant for Progressive Insurance, John Carroll University, and University Hospitals of Cleveland. She met the love of her life, Joe, and the two were happily married on October 28, 1961, at St. Athanasius Church in Philadelphia. They moved to Lyndhurst Ohio in 1965, where they remained for 60 years. The two of them started a family together, and Sue brought four wonderful children into the world. Just as she was devoted to her family, Sue was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. As a parishioner at St. Clare Catholic church, she was part of renewal, the couples club, bowling league, and pre-cana. She also embodied the spirit of Christ by choosing to give back to her community, volunteering at Villa Sancta Anna Nursing Home. Sue was a talented pianist, and enjoyed classical, Christmas, and folk music. When she wasn't at work, church, or home with her family, Sue could be found reading the latest mystery novel, cooking gardening. She was a talented seamstress and often made clothes and household items. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, which she hosted annually with Joe, and she loved traveling and often went on camping vacations with her family. What brought Sue the most enjoyment in life though was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She said that her favorite sound was babies and children's laughter. Sue was best described as sweet, gentle, and both a giver and a helper to those she loved. Sue returned home to heaven on December 10, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy as a woman who always put faith and family before herself.
