TEREZIJA JURSIC (née Drab), age 81, beloved wife of the late Joseph; loving mother of Joseph (Wanda), Mary, and John (Kimberly); devoted grandmother of Joseph C., Sophia, and Emily; cherished daughter of the late Anton and Terezija Drab; dearest sister of Nežka, and the late Marija, Franciska, Anton, Jože, and Franc; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Terezija Jursic passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on September 12, 1943, in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, into a large and loving family. From an early age, she was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, which remained central throughout her life. Her values of faith, discipline, humility, and hard work were shaped by both her upbringing and the traditions of her Slovenian heritage.
In 1965, she married Joseph Jursic, and in 1968 they immigrated to the United States, seeking better opportunities for their family. Together they raised three children: Joseph, Mary, and John. Terezija was devoted to her family and took pride in raising her children with the same values she held close, including faith in God, respect for others, and a strong work ethic.
She worked for several large companies over the years, including General Electric and Parker Hannifin, where she was known for her reliability, focus, and dedication. She retired in 2006 after a long and steady career marked by consistency and commitment.
At home, she found joy in gardening, especially tending to her flowers. She had a natural touch with plants and created peaceful, vibrant spaces wherever she lived. Gardening was more than a pastime-it reflected her care, her patience, and the way she brought quiet beauty into everyday life. She also loved cooking and baking, and her skills in the kitchen were second nature. Her meals and homemade treats brought people together and left lasting memories for everyone fortunate enough to sit at her table. She also enjoyed crocheting, finding comfort and satisfaction in the simple act of making things by hand.
Terezija lived with purpose and integrity, guided by her faith and a deep sense of responsibility to her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and extended family, both in the United States and in Slovenia. She will be remembered for her strength, her devotion, and the lasting example she set for those who knew and loved her.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Terezija at THE ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 4-8 PM.
