It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thornton Burns Jr., a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, who departed this life on May 7, 2025, at the age of 63. Thornton was a man of quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and deep dedication - to his country, his family, and his community. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force, carrying with him a deep sense of purpose and discipline that remained with him throughout his life. His years in service were marked by commitment and camaraderie, and his pride in being a veteran never faded.
Beyond his military service, Thornton was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his sister Juwanna Burns and is survived by his devoted mother, Joyce Burns, his brother Vic Burns; his children Tenecia, Thornton, Jurrel, Sierria, Serenity, Sophia, Saphire, and Jackson; and 3 grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and were the true center of his world.
Thornton will be remembered for his warm smile, his steady presence, and the love he shared so generously. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he told, and the strength he inspired in others. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to veterans' support organizations in his name. May he rest in peace, with honor.
Graveside services for Mr. Thornton Burns Jr. will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, Ohio 44273.
