Virginia "Ginny" Godfrey

VIRGINIA “GINNY” GODFREY (nee Siegel) age 82, beloved wife for 9 years of Robert; loving mother of Julie Gjinplaku (Gentian), Lori Gogolin (Ryan), and Patrick Rivera (Camille); devoted grandmother of Luke and Tommy Gogolin, and Francesco and Marcello Gjinplaku; cherished daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (nee Jones) Siegel; dearest sister of Beth Tahari, Charles Siegel (Ginger), and George Siegel (Patricia); dear aunt and great-aunt of many. Ginny was preceded in death by her former husband, Fred Rivera. Contributions may be made in memory of Ginny to Holden Forests and Gardens by clicking HERE.

Virginia was born on December 3, 1943, in Erie, Pennsylvania. As a child, she cherished time with her family, especially her beloved grandmother. Summers at Presque Isle State Park were among her happiest memories, filled with swimming and laughter on the sandy shores. After graduating from St. Vincent High School in Erie, she attended Dyke College in Cleveland, Ohio. Virginia dedicated much of her career to medical transcription in the Cleveland area, where her precision and commitment were widely respected.

Beyond her professional life, Virginia embraced community and creativity. She was an active member of the Girl Scouts of America and proudly served as a troop leader for her daughters. Her love for nature was evident in her gardening, park visits, and the orchids she nurtured with care. She also delighted in baking, knitting, and later discovered a passion for live local music.

Virginia’s enthusiasm and joyful spirit touched everyone she met. Her kindness and warmth will forever remain in our hearts.
