PATRICIA MARGARET ANN MAYHEW age 87, loving mother of Cindy Egrek (husband Thomas) Patrick M.T.M. “Butch” Gorsuch (wife Jill Pearce) and the late baby Patrick Delzoppo; devoted grandmother of Gordon Gorsuch; cherished daughter of the late Thomas G. and Margaret M. (nee Berger) Mayhew; dearest sister of the late Thomas Mayhew; dear aunt of Mark and Kirk Mayhew and great-aunt of many.
Patricia was born on June 24, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio to Thomas Gilbert Mayhew (Shanley) of Steubenville, Ohio and Margaret M. Berger of St. Louis, Missouri. She was raised in Cleveland and Euclid, Ohio, and in 1956 moved to Bryan, Ohio. Patricia was married in 1957. She was active in Saint Patrick’s Church activities. On January 13, 1968, she moved to Auburn Indiana where she worked as a secretary for Immaculate Conception School, was a member of the PTO and a lector for the church. She was also involved in the Dekalb Hospital Guild, Auburn Community Theater (Act 1), and a charter member of “Nur Fur Uns”. Pat enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She loved genealogy and babies. Pat’s most enjoyment was family gatherings of all kinds, especially holidays and Sunday dinners. Many would describe her as one who liked nature, animals (walking dogs mostly), and being active. She was helpful to anyone who needed it. Pat liked staying up late, as she was not a morning person at all. Pat passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are requested to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Helen Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Rd, Newbury, Ohio. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Pat at THE CHURCH FRIDAY MORNING from 10 – 11 AM.

Pat will forever be in my heart. My whole life Pat was my mentor and second mother. She spent weekends with me going to movies, spending the night at her house and watching Dark Shadows Soap Opera. Her husky’s would surround me as she did with love and comfort. I had been searching for her for some time after she left Auburn. I am sorry I made the mistake thinking she had already passed or I would have tried to make it to Ohio to see her. My prayers to her family. God bless Kari Randinelli- Ackerman
