Hauptman Peter

Born on December 13, 1989 in Cleveland, OH, Peter passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2021 at the age of 31. Beloved son of Tony and Vida Hauptman, Peter was born and raised in Mayfield Village where he was a machinist by trade. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 2008.

He moved to Los Angeles in 2016, and worked in the restaurant and aerospace machining industries before moving back to Cleveland in 2020 to be closer to family and friends.

Peter was an artist at heart. He had a passion for music and spent countless hours writing, producing and performing his music.  He was also an avid reader and enjoyed books on philosophy, history and anything that made him ask complex questions about society and life. He was a dedicated and lifelong learner and always welcomed a spirited debate. He enjoyed writing, snowboarding, singing and could be found watching a new movie or series in the evenings.

Peter was active in the Cleveland Slovenian community with involvements in the folklore dance group KRES, Camp Pristava and Mi Smo Mi singing group, where he made many lifelong friends.

He was known for his sarcastic humor, his infectious laugh, and his kind and passionate spirit. Peter was blessed with a large and loving family.  He will be dearly missed by many. His brilliant light and mind has become a star in the heavens above.

Beloved son of Tony and Vida (nee Pust); loving brother to Lauren (Ben) Weisel and Diana (Matt) Chimes. Uncle to Charlie Weisel. Nephew to Mark Pust, Louise (Dennis) Fitzmaurice, Marge (Tom) Luzar, Maria (Evan) Nunnally, Peter (Karen) Hauptman. Grandson to the late Milko and Dragica Pust and the late Ivan and Paula Hauptman, dearest cousin and friend of many. Contributions may be made in memory of Peter to St. Mary Church, St Ignatius High School or your favorite charity.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Peter at THE ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 4-8 PM. I met and formed a special bond with your son, Pete, through my grandson, Tanner.
I was blessed to have Pete stay in my home a couple different times while Tanner was here from Florida. He became like another grandchild to me. My family dearly loved your son.

Condolence from Josh Antonuccio on May 1st, 2021 8:14 pm

So sad to hear of this tragic loss. I had the privilege of having Pete as one of my students at Ohio University. Along with being in my classes, I was able to spend time with him and Tanner recording their songs at my studio. He had such a spark, always curious, creative, and engaging. My heart breaks for his family and friends.
