
SARANTOS A. “SAM” SARANTOS age 89, beloved husband for 65 years of the late Georgia (nee Mersinas); loving father of Ellen Reech (husband Jeff), Thomas, and Steven (wife Marjorie); devoted grandfather of Benjamin and Eric Sarantos; cherished son of the late Thomas and Helen (nee Koumlaky); dearest brother of the late Anthony (wife Jenny); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Sam was born on February 5, 1932 in Gary, Indiana and passed away on February 24, 2021. He was a resident of Munson since 1965, formerly residing in Garfield Heights where he graduated from Garfield Heights High School in 1950. Sam was an U.S. Army Veteran. He worked as a steel mill operator for U.S. Steel from 1955 until retiring in June of 1984. Sam also owned a pizza shop. He loved fishing, boating and traveling especially to the Carolinas. Sam was a Cleveland sports fan and was very social. He will be remembered most as a friendly and hard-working man who had a sense of humor and loved to talk to people. A devoted husband and father, Sam will be greatly missed.
Celebration of Life Service Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 1 PM at the Funeral Home (Visitation and Service will be livestreamed). Burial following with Military Honors at Maple Hill Cemetery in Munson, OH. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Sam at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) WEDNESDAY 11 AM-1 PM.
