Susan C. Gillich

SUSAN C. GILLICH (nee Hodges) age 68, beloved wife for 28 years of the late Thomas; loving mother of Raymond and Rachel Waugh (husband Zac); cherished daughter of the late Robert and Vera (nee Slosar) Hodges; dearest sister of Helen Scheiner (husband David) and Pat Furth. Susan was a 1969 graduate of Chagrin Falls High School. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Susan to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.

Susan was born on October 28, 1950 in Chagrin Falls, OH and passed away on July 14, 2019. She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Chagrin Falls High School in 1969. Susan was an amazing baker and spent many years baking dozens of cookies and pastries. She had her own business, Sweet Temptations, which she ran from home. Her interest in arts gave her the ability to not only create exceptional baked goods but create and decorate many wonderful things. She also enjoyed listening to all types of music, especially Motown, Elvis, and the Blues. However, her children gave her the most enjoyment in life. Susan was a selfless, kind, loving, caring, and patient woman, and for that she will be dearly missed.

I am so sorry for your great loss. I went to school with Sue and graduated with her. She was one of the nicest people I knew from school. We reconnected 4 years ago and joined with another classmate for dinner and went to the All Class Reunion in 2015. We stayed in touch on FB afterward until it seemed she was suddenly not on it anymore. I couldn’t seem to find out what was going on and what had happened to her, calling a phone number she gave me and asking other classmates who also were on her friend list if they had heard from her. She shared her medical issues with me (I am a nurse), and I feared that she was very ill. I regret that I wasn’t able to talk to her again. I pray for your family’s comfort and healing. Blessings to all.
