THERON DOUGLAS “DOUG” COLLETTE age 63, beloved husband for 37 years of Patricia “Patty” (nee Ceraolo); loving father of Theron “Nick”, Tricia Comerford (husband Sean), Daniel, and Alexandria “Allie”; devoted grandfather of Parker, Emerick, Hudson, and Tensley Comerford; cherished son of the late Theron and Janet (nee Freshley); dearest brother of Dawn Skomrock, Jennifer Collette, and Jason Collette (wife Kristin); treasured son-in-law of the late Rosario and Patricia (nee Mould) Ceraolo; dear brother-in-law of Michael Ceraolo, Rosario & Christine Ceraolo, and Frank & Diane Ceraolo; fond nephew, uncle and great-uncle of many. U.S. Army Veteran.
Doug was born in Cleveland on May 3, 1959 and passed away on May 22, 2022. He was a resident of Mayfield Heights for 37 years, previously of Newbury. He graduated from Newbury High School in 1977 and worked in many industrial settings, including manufacturing, custodial, HVAC, and home improvement. Doug loved to cook and share his “creations” with his family. Having grown up in the country, Doug continued to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of nature and spending time outdoors. Doug’s hobbies included puzzles, cars, tractors, guns, and shooting. He shared his love of shooting with his kids, brother-in-law, and friends. He was a fan of Cleveland sports, as well as UFC. Of all the things he enjoyed, his greatest love was his family. Doug was sociable, friendly, and witty, with a great sense of humor. He liked to say that although his body might get old, his mind and heart will always stay young. Doug was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be missed by so many.
Celebration of Life Service Sunday June 5, 2022 at 5:30 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Cremation following by DeJohn Crematory. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Doug at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) SUNDAY 2-5:30 PM. Service will begin at 5:30 PM.
