Jarc 1

THOMAS J. JARC age 51, beloved husband for 18 years of Tania (nee Hanford); loving father of Sophia, Lilly, and Bella; cherished son of Milena (nee Smolic) and the late Joseph; dearest brother of Milena Matzinger (husband Mark) and the late Josephine “Josie” Pophal (husband Mark); dear nephew, uncle, cousin and friend of many.

Tom was born in Euclid on August 15, 1968 and passed away suddenly on July 29, 2020 while doing one of the many things he enjoyed, jogging.  He was a resident of Willoughby Hills for 15 years, previously of Cleveland Heights.  Tom grew up in Euclid and graduated from Euclid High School in 1986. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Cleveland State University and worked as an Information Technology Project Manager for Eaton Corporation. He was a long-time active member of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church where he and his family attend weekly mass.  His strong dedication to his daughters led him to be a very active participant in his girls’ sports and academic activities at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic School.  He was also a devoted member of Slovenska Pristava, his “happy place” where he introduced his Slovenian culture to his wife and daughters.  Tom enjoyed golfing, cooking, good food, and spending time with his friends.  He was an avid sports fan, mainly of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes and wouldn’t miss a single game.   His passion for football rubbed off on his girls who would be cheering right along with him.  What he loved more than anything was spending time with his family, whether it be watching movies, spending time at the beach, or cooking a meal together.  He treasured his Thursday night visits with his mom.  Her delicious homemade food was an added bonus.  It didn’t matter what she would make, they were all his favorites.  As long as he had his family with him, Tom was a happy man.  Tom was a person who you couldn’t help but love the moment you met him. His friends and family would say he is admired for his confidence, fun-loving nature, and natural charisma.  Tom was loved by many and will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Tom to the Jarc family for his daughters’ education fund (click here [1]) or donations can be made at the Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, August 3, 2020 at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Tom at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) SUNDAY 2-6 PM. (Masks required & social distancing will be observed.)

My sister and I lost our Mom at a young age as well. If you would ever like to talk, please let us know or, if there is anything we can do for you. God bless you.

Condolence from Lori Jarosz on July 31st, 2020 8:10 am

So very sorry to hear about Tom. He WAS the life of the party but underneath was a teddy bear, always checking on people to make sure they were doing OK and didn’t need his help. His smiling face will be missed when we return to the building. Thoughts and prayers to all his family and friends.

Condolence from Bonnie Graff on July 31st, 2020 8:29 am

I worked with Tom at Eaton. He was just a joy to be around. I can still hear him say, “How are we today ladies?” whenever he passed my department. When you took a group exercise class that Tom was in, you knew it was going to be a good time. He was a brilliant ray of positive energy that will be sadly missed.

Condolence from Megan Mushat on July 31st, 2020 9:13 am

I was shocked and heartbroken to hear this news. I had the pleasure of taking many group exercise classes with Tom at Eaton. His smile was infectious and he was always a pleasant person to be around. It will not be the same without him. Sending many thoughts and prayers to Tom’s family during this difficult time.

Condolence from Frank Biondolillo on July 31st, 2020 12:35 pm

My condolences to the enitre Jarc family. Tom was a great friend and mentor to me inside and outside of work at Eaton. He was always there to help me when needed, and able to bring light to any situation. I will never forget my first day when Tom walked me around the office introducing me or stopping people who walked by to find out if we had met. I met countless people this way. I used to sit directly across from Tom and every Friday afternoon was “game plan” time for the weekend, followed by weekend review on Monday morning with Jim and Mike. I will never forget the laughs we shared, jokes we made, and will forever treasure our last round of golf just a few weeks back. Rest in peace Tom you were a great man and an inspiration.

Condolence from Jim Kickel on July 31st, 2020 1:36 pm

Tom was a truly fantastic person and always a pleasure to be around. I had the opportunity to work with Tom at Eaton. He always had a smile on his face. I lost my dad in a similar manner not very long ago, and I remember Tom took time out of his day to come say hello and offer his condolences to me when I returned to the office. Today I offer my condolences to the Jarc family. I am so sorry for your loss.

Condolence from Tom Hocevar on July 31st, 2020 3:01 pm

My deepest condolences to the entire Jarc family, Tom’s wife, daughters, mother and sister. Although I did not know Tom well, I’ve known the Jarc family since we were children, vacationing in Balm Beach. My prayers are with all of you, that you always feel Tom’s presence and find comfort there.

Condolence from Jim & Molly Kane on July 31st, 2020 3:49 pm

We are so heartbroken for the loss of Tom. May God hold your family in the palm of his hand. We will miss seeing him at all sporting and friend gatherings, and at Church. He never had a negative thing to say about anybody or anything. He was strong in who he was as a man, a husband, and a father. He was a rock. God got him back and together they will be watching over the four of you. We love you-anything you need-we are here for your family. Love, Jim, Molly, Maggie, JP & Bobby Kane

Tania, Kelly and I express our deepest condolences to you, the girls and Tom’s entire family. I can’t put into words the sadness I feel in losing a friend of 35+ years. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers, and I hope you find comfort when remembering Tom and how he touched so many lives. Love, Paul, Kelly, Jenna and Jill

Condolence from Teri and Paul Eberl on August 2nd, 2020 2:50 pm

To the entire Jarc family;
Our deepest condolences, prayer and love. Tom certainly had his priorities right over the years. I have been privileged to have enjoyed so many fun times with him over the years both professionally as well as personally. Even in the more recent times as family and professional careers diverged there was, and will always be, a friendship that is palpable. His smile is forever etched in my mind and will always provide me a bit of comfort. I wish there were words of comfort that could help ease your family’s pain. I do know that Tom will live on in each one of you and for that the world is truly a better place.

We are so incredibly sorry for your loss.

Love Teri and Paul Eberl
