Thomas “Tom” Charles Ribar age 86, passed away on June 1, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Catherine “Kay” Ribar (née Grimm) and their seven children: Kathleen Rackliffe (John Nemeth); Elizabeth (John) Dooley; Thomas (Tami) Ribar; Lori (Joe) Dooley; Amy Yu; Jennifer (Joseph) Romeo; and Julie (Anthony) Stipich. Tom is lovingly remembered by his 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was the son of the late Thomas and Lauretta Ribar; brother of Joseph (Elaine) Ribar and the late Michael (Judy) Ribar; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Tom is canonized as the patron saint of husbands waiting in cars for their wives, brewers of German lager, and home movers. He is fondly remembered as always having a silly–slightly inappropriate–birthday card on hand and being the best cook in the house. All those who knew Tom remember him fondly through fine wine, good cheese, and pasta dishes. His feast day is January 4th.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Tom at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 11AM – 12NOON.
Tom will be remembered in a Christian Service immediately following at 12Noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s name may be made to the climate action non-profit, Footprints, or to the the Union of Concerned Scientists.
