VERA M. BONGIOVANNI (formerly Obolnar) (nee Haydoo) age 98, beloved wife of the late John Obolnar and the late Peter Bongiovanni; loving mother of Nancy Unhold (husband Herb), Judy Woodie (husband Roger, deceased) and the late John Obolnar, Jr. (wife Patricia, deceased); step-mother of Janis Sitzenstock (husband John), Peter Bongiovanni (wife Debbie), and the late Barbara Sadar (husband Jeff); grandmother and great-grandmother of many; cherished daughter of the late Gustave and Minnie (nee Berg) Haydoo; dearest sister of Donald Haydoo (wife Barbara), the late Virginia Zaks (husband Louis, deceased), and the late Margaret Truhan (husband George, deceased).
Vera was born on December 16, 1922 and passed away March 22, 2021. Vera was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was a life-long resident of Highland Heights. She attended and graduated from Collinwood High School in 1941 and went on to be a payroll clerk at the J.C. Penney at East Gate. Vera’s faith was very important to her. She was an active member of the Fellowship Church, participating in the prayer chain and woman’s group. Vera was devoted to her family. She loved her grandchildren and she had an uncanny ability to keep track of what everyone was doing. Vera served as the caregiver to her sisters. She was concerned about the well-being of others and embraced everyone. She will be dearly missed.
